Your Free Guided Release
This is a guided releasing session you can do right now. I walk you through the process step by step, and you work with one real feeling from your own life as we go. Find a quiet spot, set aside about 26 minutes, and press play.
Before you press play
- 1Start calm. If you are already overwhelmed by the feeling, this is not the time to try this for the first time. Come back when you are steadier.
- 2Pick one specific memory, not a general feeling. One moment in time, and the feeling attached to it. For example, not “anger at my partner” in general, but the moment they walked in late and you felt it flare up. Keep this first one manageable.
- 3When you tap, focus only on the tapping. Let the memory and feeling go by switching your attention to only the tapping itself, while holding the intention of letting it go. Even just being okay with it going is enough.
If it starts to feel like too much, press pause and come back to it later, or work on it with support instead of pushing through alone.
Find a quiet spot, set aside about 26 minutes, and press play. Headphones work well.
How to get the most from this
- Bring one thing that has been weighing on you or frustrating you. Keep it manageable for your first session.
- You do not need to believe anything about this for it to work. Just follow along and pay attention to your own experience.
- Reading about this is one thing. Experiencing it is something else entirely.
If the feeling gets harder to find, that is the point
At some point in the session, the feeling you started with may start to fade. Sometimes it just gets quieter. Other times it gets hard to find. It might feel fuzzy or distant, or you might feel disconnected from it, like you can’t quite connect with the memory or how you felt about it before.
If that happens, you might get confused, or think you lost it or did something wrong. You did not. That fading is the release happening. It is the whole reason you are doing this.
Just keep following along with whatever is there now, even if what is there feels like almost nothing.
If it didn’t fully release
If the feeling is still there after a few rounds, it is almost always one of these. Be honest with yourself as you read through them.
- Your target was too general. Go back to one specific memory. Not “anger at my partner.” One moment, like when they walked in late, and the feeling that belonged to that moment.
- The memory stayed active while you were tapping. The more the memory and feeling stay active in your mind during the tapping, the more rounds it takes. Next round, switch your whole attention to the tapping itself and let the memory go.
- You stopped before reaching peace. Keep going until you land somewhere calm. If peace feels out of reach, aim for ease instead. If you still feel overwhelmed or too emotional, bring up a positive memory of something totally unrelated and stay with it as long as you need, until you feel decently good. Then do another round.
- Part of you doesn’t want to let it go. This one is easy to miss. If there is any sense that it isn’t safe to let it go, or you just don’t want to, that is okay. Be honest about it while you tap. Say “I don’t want to let this go” or “it doesn’t feel safe to let this go” as you go through the points. You are releasing the resistance itself. Then try “let it go” again on the next round, and you will usually find there is a lot less pushback.
When you follow these, it is rare for a release not to land within a few rounds.
